Jessica & Cameron

Jessica and Cameron‘s beautiful autumn Holland Marsh Wineries wedding, in Newmarket Ontario, is up on the blog today!

How They Met

Similar to the popular movie The Notebook, Jessica and Cameron met at their local town fair. The first thing Jessica remembers about meeting Cam, was his bright blue eyes, and how warm and comfortable she immediately felt next to him. The first thing Cameron remembers thinking when he first met Jess, was how beautiful her curly hair was, and how contagious and beautiful her smile was. They were both still in high school, and they dated for 8 years (and 1 month!) before they got engaged.

The Proposal

Cameron proposed while on a trip to Niagara Falls with Jessica’s family. They were all watching the fireworks over the falls when Cam pulled Jess over to the, side and proposed as the fireworks were going off overhead. It was an incredibly magical romantic proposal!

The Wedding

Jessica and Cameron had a Holland Marsh Wineries wedding in early November. The weather was chilly, but they had an indoor ceremony so everyone stayed warm. Except of course when we went outside for photos 😉

Getting Ready

The girls got ready in the bridal suite at the Holland Marsh Wineries, while the boys got ready off-site.

I love ring photos, but I especially love when the couple gets a cute little ring box for the rings as well!
Fun fact: Jessica’s headpiece was actually the same one her mother wore at her own wedding! (“Something old” AND “something borrowed”?)

The Ceremony

As I mentioned earlier, the ceremony was held indoors. A great thing about an indoor Holland Marsh Wineries wedding ceremony, is that I can easily go upstairs and move around to get different angles of the ceremony.

The Newlyweds!

Jess and Cam ventured out into the chilly weather with me, to get some gorgeous photos from around the Holland Marsh Wineries property. The venue has so many great photo spots in a close proximity, so we didn’t have to walk very far, which saved us time and ultimately, didn’t have to be out in the cold for as long 😉

Vineyard shots are usually some of my favourites at this venue! Especially with textured clouds in the sky!

The Reception

While we were outside taking photos, the clubhouse was converted from “ceremony” to “reception” (which was very quick, it only took about 10 minutes.). The tables were decorated with some autumn foliage, and somehow it was simple, yet elegant.

Jessica & Cameron’s Sneak Peeks

Now that Jessica and Cameron are back from their fabulous honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, I can share some sneak peek photos from their Holland Marsh Wineries wedding! They lucked out for sure, as just a few days after their wedding was when all this snow started falling!

They had an indoor ceremony (and a good decision that was, because it was coldddd outside!), which was lovely, and officiated by Jessica’s aunt.

After the ceremony, we did brave the cold and venture outside for a little bit to do some outdoor wedding photos, while the ceremony area indoors was converted to the reception room. (Moving chairs and tables.) Jess and Cam kindly did not make their guests join them outdoors – they enjoyed the warmth inside on the upper level while the room was being converted.

Yesterday, we noticed the pear tree in our front yard was blooming these pretty little white flowers. I brought my kids over and told my 4-year-old son to take a picture of it, and handed him my camera. I was totally expecting a photo of the grass, or his feet or something. He just stared at me blankly, so I knelt in front of the tree and said “Take a picture of me in front of the tree!”, and as I knelt down, my daughter ran up and stood in front of me. My son then pointed the camera at us, and pressed the shutter button – framing us perfectly!!!

This photo is SO special to me, for a few reasons:

  1. My son took this photo, and it has to best the best one he’s ever taken to-date.
  2. I don’t look completely horrid in the photo (despite that I’m squinting)
  3. My daughter is actually looking at the camera!
  4. My daughter chose her own outfit yesterday morning. So yes, she was wearing her “birthday girl” shirt, even though it wasn’t her birthday, and her favourite yellow pants.
  5. My daughter’s hair looks pretty decent considering she was just running around and the wind had probably gotten it all tangled up.
  6. My daughter is only wearing one shoe. As she was running around, she kicked off one of her shoes, and just kept on going without it. Good old carefree childhood at it’s best! But she is a GIRL so for the picture she lifted her foot up so her sock wouldn’t be dirty. haha. (When she saw the photo on my computer screen she said “stomp your feet, stomp stomp stomp”. lol!! Thank youuu Dora, for that song that got stuck in my head for awhile.)
  7. It was a candid, spur-of-the-moment photo.
  8. And a really big reason this photo is so special to me, is…
  9. I don’t have NEARLY enough nice photos of me with my children!!

It really is like an early Mother’s Day present to me from both my kids. From my son, who took the photo, and my daughter who was in the photo with me. I have to encourage all your moms out there to step out from behind the camera, and get SOMEONE to take photos of you with your kids!! (It doesn’t matter if you need to lose a few pounds, or your hair isn’t great that day, or whatever!) It’s the best gift you can give yourself, and when you look back on it years from now, you’ll be so happy you did!

I hope all the moms out there have a great Mother’s Day this weekend!

giveaway

Well, it’s a new year but 2012 was AMAZING! I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with so many incredible people!

If you walk into any type of store (since Boxing Day.. Superstore?!)… you will see Valentine’s Day paraphernalia everywhere which will tell you that Valentine’s Day is coming up! So, I thought since I am primarily a wedding photographer, I would show my 2012 clients some love with a fabulous giveaway!

WHAT CAN I WIN?!?
There is only one prize, and it’s a 16×20″ GALLERY-WRAPPED CANVAS!!!! (That’s a $300 value!)

Here’s how it works!

  1. I am going to pick one of my favourite images from every session from 2012! (I say “one of” because in most cases it’s impossible to pick just ONE favourite!) I am going to post these photos in an album on the JNP Facebook page. This is the image that will be on the winner’s canvas – if you would like to swap out your image let me know BEFORE February 1st! Once voting has begun, images CANNOT be changed!
  2. If you had more than one session with me (for example, an engagement session, then your wedding), then you get 2 photos entered in the contest – one from each session!
  3. You share your picture and tell family, friends, your hairdresser, and even strangers to go “Like” your photo! HERE’S THE CATCH! In order for their votes to count, they MUST also “Like” my page! ONLY voters which like my page will be counted!
  4. Voting ends at 8PM EST on February 8th, 2013! I will then validate all the votes, and announce the winner! The winner will be contacted by email.

Here are the answers to a few more questions you’re probably thinking!

How can I enter this fantastic giveaway?
If you had a photo session, or I photographed your wedding, you are automatically entered! (If you would prefer not to participate, just send me a quick email and I will take your photo down.)

How long will this giveaway go on for?
One week, starting February 1st, 2013!

A message to the future winner! The image that wins the most votes in the contest is the image that will be on your 16×20″ canvas. Once your canvas comes in, I will email you, and you can either pick it up (in Newmarket), or pay the shipping costs to have the canvas shipped to your home.

Mandatory Disclaimer: This giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook. I am not collecting the personal information of any of the voters.

Good luck to all the participants! 🙂
