Emily & Adam’s Sneak Peeks

After almost a year off (thanks to the covid-19 pandemic, ugh), I shot my first 2021 wedding last weekend! It was a gorgeous August summer day at the Holland Marsh Wineries in Newmarket, where Emily and Adam held their outdoor ceremony. Here are some sneak peek photos from their fabulous day!

Megan & Jonathan’s Sunflower Wedding

How They Met

Megan and Jonathan actually met at a job interview! Jonathan thought “She seems nice”, while Megan thought to herself “He’s so handsome”. They went on their first date to Boston Pizza, and they must have hit it off because a year-and-a-half later they were engaged!

The Proposal

Megan and Jonathan were walking along the beach, looking for shells, when suddenly Jonathan had discovered a very exciting shell, and he brought it to Megan to show her what he’d found – it was an oyster shell with the ring inside!

The Wedding

Megan and Jonathan’s wedding has to be one of the cheeriest-yet-relaxed weddings I’ve ever been to. No one was rushing around, everyone was just enjoying the day. It was a great change of pace! The ceremony took place at Megan’s family cottage, in Coboconk Ontario. It was a bright sunny day with great weather, which matched the sunflower-theme perfectly! I also thought a sunflower wedding in October was pretty unique – it was awesome!

Getting Ready

Megan and the girls got ready inside the cottage, while the boys got ready in the boathouse. Megan didn’t actually put her dress on until 5-minutes before the ceremony was to start, and even then she was laid back and relaxed, and just as happy as I’ve ever seen a bride be! She had her two bridesmaids with her, as well as her soon-to-be 6-year-old step-daughter, Eloise. It was easy to see how much Megan and Eloise care about each other, anyone could tell that Megan was just as much in love with Eloise as with Jonathan!

The Ceremony

The ceremony was held outdoors, in the cottage’s backyard right by the lake. There was a large white tent set-up in case of bad weather – but happily it wasn’t even needed as it was a bright sunny day! Megan and Jonathan were married underneath the white tent, in front of about 50 of their closest family and friends.

The Wedding Party

The wedding party consisted of two bridesmaids, and two groomsmen, as well as Jonathan’s 6-year-old daughter Eloise. What a great group!

The Newlyweds!

The bride and groom (and lots with Eloise as well, of course!) photos were also done at the cottage, which I was thrilled about because there were lots of great photo locations!

The Reception

After the photos were completed, we all traveled about 1-minute down the road to the Coboconk Legion building. The hall was decorated with sunflowers as well, and everyone was happily chatting and having a great time!

Right after Megan and Jonathan were announced in, Eloise ran up to them and they gave her a hug, then they proceeded to the front of the room, just in front of the head table, to do their first dance as husband and wife.

Shannon & Kyle’s Sneak Peeks

I knew Shannon and Kyle’s Hockley Valley wedding photos would be different, because this time, the bride was my sister! Shannon has always been unique – hilarious, random, and a bit crazy. 😉

Above (right), yes, that’s my daughter wearing a hotdog costume. Sadly it wouldn’t fit over Shannon’s wedding dress (she owns the costume), but I’d say it was definitely the highlight of the reception!

Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself!

Shannon and Kyle got married at the Hockley Valley Resort in Mono, Ontario (15 minutes from of Orangeville). It was a HOT summer July day, and the weather forecast wasn’t looking good…

But by some miracle, the rain held off and we had clear skies until later in the evening! (The heat was still pretty brutal though! I’d say 2nd only to the heat on Sabrina & Mason’s wedding day!)

I was Shannon’s matron of honour (and wedding day coordinator, I had my video camera on a tripod that I was moving around, and my 3 kids were there so I had to play “mom”, as well as “dance mom” with some costume changes since my kids did 2 performances during the reception – I wore a lot of hats that day!), so Julie from Julie Broadbent Photography came out and shot most of the day for me up until the beginning of the reception, when my matron of honour duties were over, and I could take over the photography. (I’m doing all the post-processing.) Julie was the perfect photographer for the job, as she knows Hockley Valley Resort like the back of her hand, and was just generally wonderful! Thank you Julie!!

Shannon and Kyle got married outdoors, under the lovely draped tent on the Montclair Patio, and the reception was held in the Aida ballroom.

As it turns out, my daughter is quite the partier. She danced until the reception ended at 1am, and then she helped us clean up!

December was a rough month for me health-wise, but I did manage to get Carly and Phil‘s Tiffin wedding photos done! Woo hoo!!

How They Met & The Proposal

When Carly and Phil first met, they were both surprised at how much they love just talking to one another! They went on their first date at The Tin Cup, and 3 years later, on Halloween, Carly found an engagement ring in her pumpkin!

Carly and Phil had their forest-themed wedding ceremony, among the towering trees at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation. Yes, an awesome outdoor, forest ceremony (with perfect lighting, I might add!)!

The Wedding Party

I feel so lucky to always get to work with such fantastic wedding parties! They were awesome, and looking lovely, of course! The guys ditched their jackets, and the girls looked great in varying shades of pink and gold.

The Newlyweds!

Surrounded by a forest of trees, it’s not that difficult to find great photo spots – they are literally everywhere you look! Not to mention that these two are naturals in front of the camera!

The Reception

The reception was held in the awesome little log cabin (the Jose Building), that I always enjoy photographing receptions in. The space is the perfect size, there’s a covered patio, boardwalk, bar area, and even a full kitchen for the caterers to use – it’s a great set-up!
