Megan and Jonathan actually met at a job interview! Jonathan thought “She seems nice”, while Megan thought to herself “He’s so handsome”. They went on their first date to Boston Pizza, and they must have hit it off because a year-and-a-half later they were engaged!
The Proposal
Megan and Jonathan were walking along the beach, looking for shells, when suddenly Jonathan had discovered a very exciting shell, and he brought it to Megan to show her what he’d found – it was an oyster shell with the ring inside!
The Wedding
Megan and Jonathan’s wedding has to be one of the cheeriest-yet-relaxed weddings I’ve ever been to. No one was rushing around, everyone was just enjoying the day. It was a great change of pace! The ceremony took place at Megan’s family cottage, in Coboconk Ontario. It was a bright sunny day with great weather, which matched the sunflower-theme perfectly! I also thought a sunflower wedding in October was pretty unique – it was awesome!
Getting Ready
Megan and the girls got ready inside the cottage, while the boys got ready in the boathouse. Megan didn’t actually put her dress on until 5-minutes before the ceremony was to start, and even then she was laid back and relaxed, and just as happy as I’ve ever seen a bride be! She had her two bridesmaids with her, as well as her soon-to-be 6-year-old step-daughter, Eloise. It was easy to see how much Megan and Eloise care about each other, anyone could tell that Megan was just as much in love with Eloise as with Jonathan!
The Ceremony
The ceremony was held outdoors, in the cottage’s backyard right by the lake. There was a large white tent set-up in case of bad weather – but happily it wasn’t even needed as it was a bright sunny day! Megan and Jonathan were married underneath the white tent, in front of about 50 of their closest family and friends.
The Wedding Party
The wedding party consisted of two bridesmaids, and two groomsmen, as well as Jonathan’s 6-year-old daughter Eloise. What a great group!
The Newlyweds!
The bride and groom (and lots with Eloise as well, of course!) photos were also done at the cottage, which I was thrilled about because there were lots of great photo locations!
The Reception
After the photos were completed, we all traveled about 1-minute down the road to the Coboconk Legion building. The hall was decorated with sunflowers as well, and everyone was happily chatting and having a great time!
Right after Megan and Jonathan were announced in, Eloise ran up to them and they gave her a hug, then they proceeded to the front of the room, just in front of the head table, to do their first dance as husband and wife.
Congrats Megan & Jonathan! I am so thrilled I got to be a part of your wonderful sunflower wedding, and capture all your Kawartha Lakes wedding photos for you! 🙂

Megan and Jonathan had their Kawartha Lakes wedding ceremony at Megan’s lovely family cottage in Coboconk. It was a lovely outdoor ceremony, on a gorgeous day with perfect weather – what more could you ask for!

I can’t really think of any more to say beyond what I already said in Paula and Leanne’s wedding sneak peek blog post. Their Kettleby wedding day at The Manor was perfect. The weather was fantastic (a bit chilly and windy though), both brides looked beautiful, and the day was full of pure happiness and joy.
How They Met
Paula and Leanne met playing baseball (Ladies Slo-Pitch) in Richmond Hill. When they met, Leanne was intrigued. Paula’s first thought was “I’ve got to get to know this girl!”. They went on their first date at the Haunted Magic Hill Farm.
The Proposal
After five years of dating, Paula and Leanne went to a baseball game, and Paula proposed on bended knee.
The Wedding
After a long engagement (another five years!), Paula and Leanne tied the knot on a gorgeous fall day in October, at The Manor in Kettleby.
I’m not usually surprised by much when I show up at weddings, because I have a thorough pre-wedding workflow, but Leanne surprised me when I saw her brooch bouquet that she made herself! What an amazing job she did on it too!
Before the ceremony, both brides were happy and excited!
An indoor ceremony was planned, which was probably a good thing since it was windy and chilly (yet gorgeous) outside!
The lovely wedding party!
These two lovely ladies were so photogenic, and genuinely happy, it made them naturals in front of the camera! Which in turn, made my job pretty easy 😉
Following the reception entrance, there they did the traditional Jewish Hora dance. I love these cultural traditions, they’re all so unique and symbolic in their own way – and also usually a lot of fun!
Paula actually fell off her chair the first time! I had never seen that before, but it wasn’t a big deal. Everyone was laughing and having a great time! Leanne looked like she was having the time of her life!
Look at the cakes! The attention to detail was pretty impressive! Kelli did a fantastic job!
Thanks to Paula’s very expressive face, these two photos below are now officially my favourite “feeding the cake to each other” photos EVER!
Thank you Paula and Leanne for having me be a part of your wonderful day! I had an absolute blast documenting your wedding!

Melissa & Dan
How They Met
Melissa and Dan met online, and when they met in-person at a pub, Melissa got butterflies in her stomach right away. They hit it off, and dated for 4 years before Dan popped the question!
The Proposal
Melissa and Dan were on vacation in Panama for Dan’s birthday. They were on the beach, and decided to look for some seashells – Dan found the BEST shell! 😉
The Wedding
I started off at Melissa and Dan’s home in Keswick, where Melissa, her mother, and her bridesmaids were all getting ready.
Melissa and Dan’s backyard was perfect for some photos of the girls!
Cash, the cute little guy below, Melissa and Dan’s adorable nephew, was the ring bearer. I’m sure he stole the hearts of everyone at the wedding! And he just LOVES cameras, which made me very happy 🙂 At first he was saying “Cheese” whenever he saw my camera, but I said “Cheese is boring, let’s say something fun, like candy!”, and that’s when “candy cheese” was born. Every time Cash saw my camera he would do an adorable smile and say “candy cheese”. It was awesome!
The ceremony was held on the gazebo steps at the Georgina Pioneer Village. As you can see, it was a beautiful day with a nice blue sky!
After the ceremony, we did photos around the Pioneer Village.
I really liked the reception decor, especially the engraved wood!
Congrats Melissa & Dan!

Alana & Michael
Alana and Michael’s story is something movies are made of – they met, it was love at first sight, and within 8 months they were married!
How They Met
Alana and Michael met online through a dating app. They went on their first date (a romantic walk through the woods), and it was love at first sight! Alana knew it was going to work out, and so did Michael. He knew right away that Alana was going to be his next girlfriend. What he didn’t know at the time (of course), was that he would end up marrying her within 8 months of meeting!
The Proposal
After just 6 months of dating, they were both certain – they wanted to be together forever. They were just hanging out, having casual conversation, and they started talking about getting married. They both agreed it had to happen – so why wait!
The Wedding
Alana and Michael both got ready at home, so when I got there we did a quick First Look, then went right into bride & groom photos.
Since it was the end of October, we used the beautiful fall colours in the backyard as a backdrop. It worked out beautifully (except it was pretty cold and poor Alana was freezing – but you can’t tell that from the photos!)!
For the ceremony, we travelled a short distance to the Darchei Noam Synagogue. I had never been there before, but it is a wonderful venue with lots of space. Rabbi Tina Grimberg was wonderful!
I really love the “breaking the glass” tradition at Jewish weddings. It’s such a great way to end the ceremony, with a big POP!
Congrats Alana and Michael!!
