Newmarket Outdoor Wedding Photographer

Alexandra & Andrew’s Sneak Peeks

It was a gorgeous (and hot!) September day for Alex and Drew’s amazing wedding. Everything was planned so well, and the whole day went incredibly smoothly! The entire wedding day was outdoors, at Alex’s parents’ beautiful property just 5 minutes north of Newmarket.

Here are some sneak peek photos from their awesome day!

Alex’s parents planted that willow tree themselves 20 years ago! Her dad also did the landscaping around the pond (not pictured below, but more photos to come!), hoping that one day one of his children would have their wedding on the property. It certainly paid off, it was beautiful – hands-down the best photo spot on the property!

The newlyweds left the ceremony area in a 1965 (I think? 1967? I can’t remember the exact year.) red Mustang! A pretty cool ceremony exit for sure!

Congrats Alex & Drew!

Sharon & Ryan

How They Met

Sharon and Ryan originally met by working together, in Thompson, Manitoba. Their cubicles were right next to each other in the office. When they first met and became friends, Sharon was wearing a hard hat and was angry about something and was walking angrily past the cubicles – but because she was shorter than the cubicle wall, all Ryan could see was this angry hard hat storming past. Of course he cracked up laughing.

Ryan used to stand up and talk to Sharon over their shared cubicle wall. At first Sharon thought Ryan seemed very nice, and he was very tall and had cute dimples. But she quickly realized that she couldn’t just lean over and talk to Ryan whenever she wanted, she had to walk all the way around the cubicles to talk to him!

They were friends for many years, but then one night they were at Ryan’s place – Ryan had just bought a brand new 3D TV and they ordered takeout sushi and watched a Blockbuster-rented (yes this was awhile ago!) Planet Earth in 3D to test out the new TV. Seven years later, they were engaged!

The Proposal

Ryan made Sharon a very nice dinner for her birthday (it was actually a couple days before her birthday, as on her actual birthday they were busy that whole weekend.) Along with dinner, Ryan hand-made fortune cookies (whoa!), and put personalized fortunes inside for dessert. He hid the ring inside Sharon’s fortune cookie, which Sharon almost didn’t open or eat, because she was too full. Ryan had to trick Sharon into opening the fortune cookie with the ring in it, by telling her “Oh, at least read the fortune!”, because apparently there was no plan B if Sharon refused to open another fortune cookie!

The Wedding

Sharon got ready in Newmarket, with some immediate family and a couple of close girlfriends. They had a very tight and busy schedule in the morning, including an incense offering and tea ceremony, so I met them at the St. John Chrysostom parish, also in Newmarket, just before the ceremony.

The Ceremony

Sharon and Ryan had an indoor Newmarket wedding ceremony, at the St. John Chrysostom Parish, in Newmarket. It was a HOT summer July day, but the light inside the parish was fantastic, and they had lots of fans running.

It was a catholic ceremony, lasting about an hour. Catholic ceremonies always give me plenty of time for photos! 😉

The Wedding Party

After the ceremony, I had a bit of a break while everyone went to lunch. We all then met at King’s Riding Golf Club in King City where the reception was going to be held. It was there that we did all of the photos.

The wedding party consisted of two bridesmaids (yes two, hang on…), two junior bridesmaids (see, I didn’t miss anyone!), and two groomsmen. They are a great group, and Jean had a great time driving a golf cart for the first time when she came to help us with the bride and groom photos (thanks Jean!)

Sharon & Ryan’s Sneak Peeks

I had the best time at Sharon and Ryan’s King’s Riding wedding! They had their ceremony at St. John’s Chrysostom Parish in Newmarket, then they had their reception at King’s Riding Golf Club in King City. I love King’s Riding because there are so many great photo spots, and the staff are fantastic!

Sharon and Ryan are so wonderful – plus as an added bonus, Sharon is hilarious and being around her just makes you happy. At one point near the end of the day, she told me that her guests were wonderful, and she didn’t regret inviting any of them, so that’s always good! haha

As I mentioned earlier, King’s Riding has lots of great photo locations (I just love shooting there!), and Sharon and Ryan lucked into a beautiful day!

I really like the photo below on the right for some reason. Foreshadowing perhaps? 😉 It’s kind of like a “stages of life” photo. ha.

Frances & Beth

How They Met

Frances and Beth met through a mutual friend who lives in Toronto. They had each heard of the other, and had seen each other at a couple of events, but hadn’t really had a chance to talk for over a year.

When they finally did start talking, there was an immediate attraction for both of them – They connected on many levels right away!

For their first date, they met up at a barbecue. Things took off from there, and four years later came…

The Proposal

Beth, Frances, her two daughters Jasmine and Melanie, and their dog Skipper, were on a five-day canoe trip in Algonquin Park. They were watching a beautiful sunset from their campsite, when Frances turned and asked Beth to marry her in front of Jasmine and Melanie. Beth said yes of course, and the four of them hugged, cried, and laughed. Jasmine and Melanie starting planning for the wedding at that very moment!

When I was photographing the rings, I couldn’t help but notice that the four rings elegantly symbolized their new family. I pictured the two engagement rings as Beth and Frances, and the wedding rings as Jasmine and Melanie. (I don’t normally make up little “ring families” but I liked the symbolism in this case.)

The Wedding

Getting Ready

Beth and Frances both got ready at their home. They got dressed in separate rooms, and then had a First Look in their dining room before heading over to the Holland Marsh Wineries.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was held outdoors, with DIY wooden signs scattered around the venue. It was a gorgeous sunny summer day, and a great day to get married!

I LOVE the group photo above! Right after the ceremony, the brides walked back down the aisle, followed by the five bridesmaids, and they all surrounded the brides and hugged and cheered. The photo you see above is a pure candid shot of them post-hug right after the ceremony!

The Wedding Party

The fantastic wedding party consisted of Frances’ two daughters and Beth’s three nieces. All five of them acted like sisters though, I noticed, and they really made the day all the more special for Frances and Beth.

Frances & Beth’s Sneak Peeks

I had the pleasure of photographing Frances and Beth’s Holland Marsh Winery wedding last weekend – and it was so much fun! They lucked into a beautiful, sunny day – even though the week before the weather forecast was predicting thunderstorms!

Frances and Beth are both so kind and wonderful, I just loved being able to document their special day for them!

They had an all-female wedding party (girl power, woooo!), which included Frances’ daughters, and Beth’s nieces. All five of them (and their spouses!) helped out with everything, and helped create the perfect day for Frances and Beth.
